Many of us have listened to industrial metal and probably music
by Nine Inch Nails, the man behind NIN is Trent Reznor. He is
a genius who pioneered industrial metal and has worked on many
different projects.
Michael Trent Reznor was born in Mercer, Pennsylvania on May 17,
1965, 7:30 a.m. edst. His mother was Nancy Clark and she was a
homemaker. His father was Mike Reznor was an interior designer.
His sister Tera was born in 1971.
When he was five he started to take piano lessons, the same year
his parents divorced. He went to live with his grandparents and
his sister went to live with her mother. Trent built model planes,
was in the boy scouts, and skateboarded. He took piano lessons
from Rita Beglin.
In High School he played the saxophone and keyboard in marching
bands and jazz bands. Also, he was also voted best in drama by
classmates. He spent 1 year at Allegheny College and majored in
computer engineering and music. He worked in a keyboard store
and then a recording studio. He also played a small part in a
movie called “Light of Day”.
Trent Reznor began to play industrial metal which is heavy metal
with keyboards and synthesizers, sort of like a mixture between
heavy metal and techno. The first song he wrote was “Down in it”.
Then in 1989 Nine Inch Nails released their debut album, “Pretty
Hate Machine” and then Nine Inch Nails played on the first Lollapalooza.
Their next album was"Broken" which was released in 1992. After
that they released “Downward Spiral” in 1994 and in 1995 they
released “Further Down The Spiral” and recently, on Sep 21, 1999,
they released “The Fragile”.
He did the sound track for Oliver Stone’s “Natural Born Killers”
and then he did the sound track for “Lost Highway”. In 1996 Trent
Reznor did the music and sound effects for a game called “Quake”
which was being developed by a company called id Software. In
1997 he did some work on the follow up to “Quake”, “Quake II”.
Also, Trent Reznor did some work on a movie called “The Crow”,
he did some work with the band MEGADETH. He also helped Marylin
Manson on
“ Portrait of an American Family”, “Smells Like Children”, and
“Anti-Christ Superstar” and he has also been on some songs with
David Bowie. Also he has written and directed several independant
films.
Trent Reznor has worked on many different projects and reflects
some of this in his music. He also owns Nothing Records which
has some industrial metal bands like Marylin Manson. Trent is
a genius and he may do some work on the upcoming game “Quake III:Arena”.
